I like to think l am on the ball and can spot a scam a mile away but it appears l have had the wool pulled over my eyes for the last three weeks.
The culprit a seven year old.
The school like to give children weekend homework, but for some reason the last few weeks, when we have asked to look in the book bag nothing is there. Every Friday our little angel would come and say the school have not given out homework as the teacher was busy planning plays or they had done it all in class.
I must admit we had our doubts but for the first two weeks we thought it might be plausible that the teachers were busy as they always seem to say they are over worked and anyway l mean if a child has not done her weekend homework for three weeks, you would have expected the teacher to tell you, especially as it looks like this teacher has our number on speed dial.
When it came to the third week and again no homework, we asked then why did the other children have homework, on asking other parents we learned last week they had to walk around the village looking at buildings and making notes on them, which would have been perfect for me as i would have taken her to The Bell, The Angel and The Cheese to look at these buildings.
Under cross examination and it turns out she has been getting it and hiding it at school, now where she has put it is anybodies guess but if the school toilets suddenly become flooded over the next week, l just hope her name is not on the papers.
So the other day the missus went to see the teacher about her homework. The teacher on hearing all the evidence replied.
"I did wonder why l don't have any ticks down for her homework for the last three weeks."
Unreal you just could not make it up a seven year old has not given in any homework and a teacher never thought to ask why? So after hearing this the missus asked her if she could set us some homework for the little one to do over the next few days.
Yesterday she went to get the homework and the teacher told her she forgot to do it.
You have to ask yourself what chance to the children have?
Tonight is parents evening.
I have let the missus have the pleasure.
The othe night l watched Jason Manford and have made a mental note of the green tongue trick and shall be using it next time l think she is lying. I urge all parents to do the same.
