Back to square one

Being playing quite a bit of cash on betfair lately. After playing the krackedkings forum Omaha game on ladbrokes, l decided to play Omaha at the 25c 50c level on betfair. It's surprising how many people just try to limp into pots, not sure if its the case on other sites as its a long time since l played Omaha cash on ladbrokes but even with a raise you would still get all the limper's calling. Most would say they are getting the odds still to call.

The pots soon build up and l found myself getting called on the flop called on the turn and then raised on the river when the third club had hit the deck. Just could not shake people off hands and would get the usual response of l had so many outs l had to call.

I would build up nice stakes and then not pick the right time to quit, usually l would sit down with $50 and build it up to over $180 playing well only to play a couple of hands wrong/badly or just getting unlucky and end up back to square one.

The other week on ladbrokes l decided to see how l could do starting off with $50, so l went and played Omaha on a 50-1 table, played pretty well for just over two hours and built it up to $443, l then decided to leave and sit down and play fixed limit at the 5-10 table. Anyone who has played fixed will know that its one sick game, you can never ever get anyone off a hand as they will call all the way. Not sure why l decided to sit down really, l just thought l started with $50 lets see if l can get it up to $800. Not sure what would have happened if l had got to $800, l suppose it would have been lets get to $1000. In no time at all and l was losing hand over fist, it only takes one hand to lose over $100 playing at this level. After about 30 minutes l was down to just over $100 and having sick beat over sick beat l just could not take anymore and left the table and switched ladbrokes off.

Lesson learnt.

Never been one to read books it's always been a case of trial and error with me, right from the first time l ever sat at a poker table, but in order to grasp more about maximising my pots at the omaha tables l am thinking about looking at some books.

From the new year l am going to do more with the poker side of this blog and show in more detail how l am getting on and what l am doing on the profit and loss side. I have not really played as much as l would have liked this year and l am hoping that will change going into the new year and beyond

  1. I been playing a lot of Omaha cash and the beats are sick, lost my €300 roll in two days when I moved up the levels. Back down the levels and I'm building it up again quite nicely.
I got some literature on Omaha from cardrunners if you want it, gimme a PM and I'll get it to you (8mb, 80 pages, .pdf file)

    Tired.
